  • Atal Bihari Vajpayee started his political career in 1942. As you all know, the Quit India Movement was in full swing then, and his brother was arrested in this movement. His brother had to stay in jail for 23 days, after which he was released. At the same time, he met Syama Prasad Mookerjee and joined the Bharatiya Jana Sangh Party at his request. Bharatiya Jana Sangh Party was formed in the year 1951.
  • After this, in 1957, Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ji was given a ticket by Jan Sangh Party as its candidate for the election from Balrampur Lok Sabha seat of Uttar Pradesh district, and Atal Ji registered his first victory in the Lok Sabha elections. After this, seeing his achievement, he was made the party president. Atal Ji was the Foreign Minister in Morarji Desai’s government for two years, from 1977 to 1979, due to which he contributed a lot to our country in preparing the background of a confident country abroad.
  • After this, in 1980, Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ji formed his party, Bharatiya Janata Party, and took over as the President on April 06 1980. The Lok Sabha election in 1996 was the first victory of the Bharatiya Janata Party across the country. With this election, BJP established its government for the first time in the country, and for only 13 days, from May 06 to June 21 1996, Atal Ji was sworn in as the tenth Prime Minister of the country.
  • After running the government for only 13 days, Atal Ji’s government fell, and then in 1988, after two years of the government’s fall, the party came to power. On March 19 1998, Atal Ji took oath as the Prime Minister for the second time and again on October 10 1999. He was sworn in as the Prime Minister for the third time.

First of all, Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ji, while being the Prime Minister, made our country a nuclear-powered country by detonating five underground nuclear tests on May 11 and May 13 in Rajasthan’s Pokhran in 1998.
